Prof. Dr. Inge Kortekaas Krohn
Biography
Inge Kortekaas Krohn is Junior Group leader of the Skin Immunology & Immune Tolerance (SKIN) Research Lab at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). The SKIN Research Group is part of the Dept. of Dermatology at UZ Brussels (chaired by Prof. Jan Gutermuth). The unique situation of a research lab being part of a clinical department is the close collaboration with clinicians and access to patients for highly translational and clinically relevant academic studies. The research focusses on the innate and adaptive immune response of inflammatory skin diseases. More specifically, uncovering autoreactive IgE antibodies in atopic dermatitis, discovering the direct effects of biologicals (treatments) on skin cells using in vitro skin models, biobanking of rare skin diseases, validation of electrical impedance spectroscopy for skin barrier function.
She is Biomedical scientist by training and obtained her Masters degree in Molecular Medicine (Aarhus, Denmark) in 2012 and her PhD at the KU Leuven (Leuven, Belgium) in February 2018. She started the VUB SKIN Research lab in February 2018.
